It’s one of the most electric weekends of the summer—Under the Big Sky is here! Whether you’re heading out for all three days heading out of town instead, we’ve got your weekend wellness covered. Think: fun accessories, sun protection, post-dance recovery, & clean essentials for your weekend. We pulled together a roundup of Haskill Creek Festival Essentials over on Instagram if you need some last-minute inspiration (or a quick excuse to stop by the shop).
While we’re on the topic of feeling good in your body, we’re also spotlighting a woman who helps so many in our community do just that: Delia Buckmaster, founder of Delia Pilates right here in Whitefish. Delia is a movement expert, an educator, and a longtime friend of Haskill Creek. She’s built a studio that’s rooted in intention and care—values that we share and admire deeply.
We recently sat down with Delia for a Q&A where she shared everything from her thoughts on self-care and fitness to how she balances it all! She also picked out some of her Haskill Creek essentials—her favorite go-tos from the shop that support her wellness inside and out. You can check out the full interview here.
One of the products that’s been sparking a lot of curiosity in the shop lately is colostrum. Yes, the same stuff known for kickstarting immunity in newborns—but it turns out, there’s real science behind using it for adults too. From gut health and skin support to better recovery and immunity, colostrum might be the most unexpected addition to your wellness lineup. If you’re wondering whether it’s just a trend or worth the hype, we broke it all down in our latest blog post: Colostrum for Grownups.
Whether you’re sweating it out at a music fest, slowing down in a Pilates class, or experimenting with new wellness rituals, we love helping you feel supported every step of the way. That’s what we’re here for—to help you feel your best so you can do what you love, with the people you love, all summer long.
If you’re swinging by the shop this weekend before heading to the fest, let us know what set you’re most excited for—we love a good music rec. And if you’ve been curious about a new product or supplement you’ve seen on our shelves, don’t hesitate to ask our team. We’re always happy to share what we’re learning and loving.
As always, thanks for being part of our community. Wishing you a weekend full of sunshine, music, and fun!
Meet Delia!
She is owner of Delia Pilates, a boutique Pilates studio here in Whitefish, Montana- offering innovative and fun reformer, mat and chair combo classes, private sessions, and the best in workshops & education. We asked Delia a few questions about her business, her wellness philosophy, and her favorite wellness products to keep her moving gracefully through life.
Q: You’ve created such a strong wellness presence in Whitefish—how did Delia Pilates come to be, and what inspired you to start your studio?
I launched my first studio, Exhale Pilates, in 2005 as a brand-new mom. At the time, I was at the beginning of a major career shift. I had fallen in love with Pilates and knew I wanted to build a life that felt purposeful and healthy, not just for myself, but for my family too. The studio became more than a job; it was a space where I could grow something positive, creative, and sustainable while raising my kids. That early foundation eventually evolved into Delia Pilates—a space that reflects my belief in movement as a lifestyle, not a trend.
Q: At Haskill Creek, we believe in whole-body wellness rooted in sustainability and self-care. How does that philosophy align with your approach to movement and fitness?
It aligns completely. A big turning point for me was earning my certification in holistic wellness through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in 2011. That’s when I really began to shift my own habits and values; not just around movement, but around lifestyle, mindset, and overall well-being. Pilates naturally complements that journey. It’s empowering, mindful, and rooted in principles that stand the test of time; supporting strength, balance, and longevity at every stage of life.
Q: What role does Pilates play in long-term wellness, especially for those juggling busy lives, family, or recovery?
Pilates plays a supportive role; it’s not a substitute, it’s an add-on. It’s there to complement your favorite activities, not overpower them. Whether you’re hiking, skiing, strength training, or just managing the day-to-day demands of life, Pilates helps your body move more efficiently and recover more effectively. Over time, that consistency adds up. It improves posture, reduces pain, prevents injury, and builds a stronger connection between your body and mind. For people juggling full lives; work, family, aging, or recovery—it’s a form of movement that’s sustainable and adaptable. That’s what makes it such a powerful tool for long-term wellness. It’s not just about what your body can do today, it’s about keeping it healthy and capable for the years ahead.
Q: Can you walk us through what a typical session at Delia Pilates looks like, and how you tailor it to each person’s needs?
Private sessions are always tailored to the individual. Whether we’re addressing injury recovery, athletic performance, or building foundational strength. In group classes, we design the flow to be accessible for all levels, with clear options to level up or modify. The goal is always to set clients up for success while still challenging them. Pilates is a system of exercises, not just a random fitness class. There’s a method, a progression, and a purpose behind every movement. That said, our sessions are still creative, dynamic, and fun! It’s not about repetition for the sake of it, but about intelligent movement that evolves with you.
Q: You work with people at all fitness levels. What are common reasons people come, and how do you help them grow?
People come to Delia Pilates for all kinds of reasons. Rehab after surgery, chronic pain, athletic cross-training, or simply wanting to move better and feel stronger in their bodies. We work with a wide range of clients: older adults maintaining mobility and balance, individuals with spinal cord injuries, post-rehab clients rebuilding strength, professional athletes fine-tuning performance, and the everyday athlete who wants to stay active and injury-free.What keeps people coming back is the quality of the experience. With years of teaching and a deep understanding of movement, we’re able to meet clients where they are and help them build confidence, strength, and awareness over time. Sessions are thoughtful, supportive, and designed to evolve with each person’s goals; whether that’s getting out of pain or reaching a higher level of performance.
Q: What are your personal non-negotiables for daily self-care or mindfulness?
I thrive on routine. Coffee, nourishing food, and even my scheduled manicure—it’s all part of how I stay grounded. Time outdoors is non-negotiable. Whether it’s hiking, biking, cross-country skiing, or walking the dog, I need space away from the studio to reset. If I could retract the roof of the Pilates studio and let the mountain air in, I would! Movement and nature keep me balanced, creative, and present, for myself, my family. and for my clients.
Q: Are there any wellness practices or products you love and recommend?
Besides a few of my favorite things from Haskill Creek, there are a handful of things I come back to regularly. I take magnesium at night to help me relax and probiotics to support digestion. Sunscreen is part of my daily routine since I’m outside so often. I’m also drawn to candles and scents that feel earthy and grounding. They help create a calm space, which is something I really need. I function best in a clean, uncluttered environment. It clears my head and helps me show up more fully. And I’ll admit, I do love a good set of linen sheets.
Q: What’s one small thing people can start doing today to feel better in their bodies?
Start by adding something positive or something you enjoy and can actually stick with. As a health coach, one thing I’ve learned is that you’re more likely to create real, lasting change when you focus on adding in healthy habits, rather than trying to overhaul everything at once. That applies to people, too! Surround yourself with what and who uplifts you, and over time it naturally crowds out what doesn’t serve you.
And I’ll die on this hill: walking is one of the easiest and most effective ways to feel better. Even just a quick walk around the block can improve circulation, boost mood, ease joint stiffness, and support your nervous system. It’s simple, it’s accessible, and it works, especially when done consistently.

01. Thorne Products | NiaCel 400, Berberine, Women’s Daily Probiotic
These are just solid basics in my routine. I try to support energy, digestion, and overall balance, and these hit those areas without being overly complicated.
02. Ursa Major Skincare | Golden Hour Recovery Cream, Alpine Rich Cream, Green Slate Mineral Polish
My skin needs a lot of moisture, but it has to be gentle—otherwise I either break out or dry out. These give me that balance. The creams are rich but not heavy, and the polish is great when my skin needs a refresh without feeling over-scrubbed or irritated.
03. Suntegrity | Milky Mineral Sun Serum Spray SPF 50
I prefer a natural sunscreen. This one feels light and works well alone or under makeup.
04. Living Libations | Best Skin Ever (Cleanser + Moisturizer)
I like this because it is oil based… It smells great and works without drying out my skin.
05. OGEE | Complexion Perfecting Tinted Serum
I don’t wear much makeup, but this gives a little coverage without feeling like I’m wearing anything. Just enough to feel pulled together.
06. Ere Perez | Arnica All Cover Base Corrector
My under-eyes definitely give me away when I’m tired, and this helps soften that without feeling heavy. It’s easy to use, blends well, and I like that it includes arnica—it’s a nice added touch.
07. Branch Basics | Oxygen Boost + Dirty Labs | Bio Laundry Detergent
I try to keep things low-tox at home where I can, especially with products I use often. This combo has been great for cleaning workout clothes—better than any other natural brand I’ve tried. I use the Dirty Labs detergent with it so everything comes out clean and has a subtle, fresh scent without being overpowering.
08. Ancient Nutrition | Collagen Protein
I throw this into coffee or smoothies when I remember. Nothing fancy—just something that feels supportive for joints, skin and hair.
09. Plant People | Wonder Gummies Super Veggie
I eat pretty well, but some days are just off. These are an easy way to feel like I’m covering a few bases when meals are rushed or skipped. Plus I can use them as a sweet snack 🙂
10. Momentous | Vitamin D3
Living in Montana means I’m not always getting enough sun, especially in winter. This feels like a simple way to support my mood and energy.
11. Plant People | Wonder Hydrate Electrolyte Gummies
They’re nice after a hike or long bike ride because they are easy to pack. You will definitely need to chase it with water to reap the benefits.
July 1, 2025
Happy Fourth of July from all of us at Haskill Creek! We hope you’re soaking up every bit of sunshine this week—whether you’re paddleboarding on the lake, hiking in the mountains, biking the trails, golfing, or just enjoying slow moments with friends and family. There’s truly nothing like summer in Northwest Montana, and we’re feeling extra grateful to be right here for it.
At the store, we’re leaning into all things fresh, grounded, and vibrant—starting with a summer recipe we’re loving from one of our favorite pantry brands, Enzo. Their Peak-Season Salad is everything a July dish should be: colorful, crisp, and packed with flavor. It’s perfect for grilling weekends, potlucks, or anytime you want something light but satisfying. (Bonus points if you drizzle on their extra virgin olive oil—we’re hooked.) You can grab the full recipe here.
We’re also talking about the healing power of being barefoot—literally. If you’ve never heard of earthing, it’s a wellness practice that connects you directly to the Earth’s natural energy by walking barefoot on grass, soil, or sand. As it turns out, there’s real science behind the calming, anti-inflammatory benefits it may offer. It’s simple, free, and just might be your new favorite wellness ritual. Here’s why we think it’s worth trying.
And while we’re staying grounded, we’re also digging into a question we get asked all the time: what’s the deal with seed oils? Are they actually harmful, or is it more about the types of processed foods they’re typically found in? We break down the facts, the fear, and the food industry behind the conversation in our latest blog post here.
Meanwhile, we’re still riding the high from our anniversary celebration, where one of the surprise stars of the day was the Aplós mocktail we were pouring customers. If you missed it—or just want to recreate the magic at home—you can catch a peek at the recipe on our Instagram page. Aplós continues to be a staff and customer favorite for good reason.
And finally, for our book lovers: we’ve officially launched the Haskill Creek Book Club app–now that we’ve got more book club members, it’s an easier way to keep track of everything! You can join us here and help us choose what to read next.
Wishing you a safe, sunny, joy-filled holiday week. We’ll see you at the store—and maybe barefoot in the grass. 😉

June 17, 2025
It’s hard to believe, but our downtown Haskill Creek location is turning one—and we’re throwing a party to celebrate! Next Wednesday, June 25, we’re inviting our community (that’s you!) to stop by the shop for a full day of celebration. We’ll have giveaways, raffles, donuts from The Spot, charcuterie from Trovare, N/A drink tastings, and double loyalty points for members. It’s our way of saying thank you for an amazing first year. We hope you’ll join us!
We’ll also be kicking things off in the morning with an exciting partnership with our friends at BusyBee IV: nutrient panel testing from 9–11:30 AM. These panels check your levels of essential nutrients like B12, magnesium, vitamin D, CoQ10, and more—so you can better understand what your body actually needs (and what it doesn’t). Learn more about it, and sign up here! There’s also an optional MTHFR gene test, which can offer insight into how well your body is processing B vitamins and detoxifying. It’s a great opportunity to get personalized, practical data—and we’re offering a special discounted rate for the day.
Summer in Montana can be busy and with so many fun things to do, it can be hard to know where to start… if you’re looking for inspiration check out our Summer Bucket List. It’s full of easy, free (or almost free) ideas for making the most of the season with your crew—think backyard movie nights, “yes” days with your kids, and late-night stargazing. You can check it out here and use it as inspiration all summer long.
With all that sunshine, we’re also reminding our community to swap out old sunscreens and take a second look at what’s in the bottle. Our recent post on smarter sunscreen use covers which ingredients to avoid, how much to actually apply, and a few of our clean favorites stocked at the store. If SPF is part of your daily ritual (and it should be), this is a good refresher. Check it out here.
We also had the chance to sit down with Ashlee O’Dell of Ember Nutrition & Training for a new Haskill Essentials Q&A. Ashlee is a nutritionist, business owner, and total force in the wellness space, and she shared some of her favorite Haskill Creek picks and how she finds balance in the chaos. You can read her interview here, and don’t miss our past Essentials spotlights on Whitney Brien of Fleur Bake Shop and Megan Robinson, the Boho Esthetician if you love seeing what real women in our community are loving.
Last but not least, we just dropped a new blog post breaking down the not-so-sexy but super important world of essential fatty acids. Omega-3s and omega-6s impact everything from mood to inflammation to skin, but most people don’t know how to balance them—or what to look for in a good supplement. If you’re dealing with inflammation, brain fog, or dry skin, this post is worth a read.
Whether you’ve been with us from day one or just stopped in for the first time last week, we’re so grateful for the support—and we’re looking forward to many more exciting things to come in the future!
Meet Ashley!
" Hi! I'm Ashlee O'Dell, a registered dietitian, certified personal trainer, and the owner of Ember Nutrition & Training in Whitefish.
I became the coach I needed. I'm here for total food freedom, but also building beautiful, balanced plates and smart supplementation to nourish the body from the inside out. I say this all the time, “Our bodies crave consistency, yet they can be incredibly flexible.” My approach to training is also flexible when needed, evidence-based, and uniquely designed for the body and mind of the individual or group I’m working with. These products are part of the daily rituals my clients and I love. At the end of the day, we all want the same thing: to move well and feel great in our bodies! "
We asked Ashley a few questions to get to know her better and discover the Haskill products she swears by to help her and her clients stay strong, balanced, and thriving!
Haskill Essentials x Ember Nutrition: Q&A with Ashlee O'Dell
1. For those who don’t know you yet—tell us a little about yourself and what inspired you to start Ember Nutrition.
I was inspired to start Ember Nutrition & Training to help wellness seekers build lives they love—without burning out by chasing fads or jumping from diet to diet. One of my favorite sayings is: “Our bodies crave consistency, yet they’re incredibly flexible.”
My favorite part of the job is teaching people what truly matters in their nutrition and where they can be flexible while still living a balanced lifestyle. Lately, I’ve been saying I’m a workout and wellness lover in my bridal era—I'm getting married in September! It’s been fun giving my routines a little refresh so I can look and feel my best for the big day.
I’m a Registered Dietitian, Licensed Nutritionist, and Certified Personal Trainer—so I like to say I’m pretty book smart on my best days. I fell in love with the power of nutrition during one of my first college biology classes when my professor explained how it impacts disease prevention, quality of life, and even gene expression (i.e., nutrigenomics). That moment hooked me.
Throughout college, I taught group fitness and women’s boxing classes. Fitness empowered me to empower others, and Ember Nutrition & Training became the perfect blend of nutrition coaching, personal training, and small group workouts.
2. You wear many hats as a certified nutritionist, personal trainer, and business owner. How do you balance it all, and what keeps you grounded?
Thank you for asking this—what a great question! You’re right: I have to be really intentional about protecting my energy and how I spend it. I stay grounded by keeping things fun—for myself and for others. If what you’re doing brings even small moments of joy, you’re far less likely to burn out.
Refreshing my playlists, staying curious, learning new things, and making sure my own cup is full are all essential. I’ve also found a lot of peace in simply being authentic. I don’t always have to be bubbly and upbeat to be effective—I can show up calmly, steadily, and still inspire others by being myself.
3. What’s your personal wellness philosophy, and how has it evolved since launching Ember?
My method sometimes surprises people because I care more about consistency in routines than intensity. I focus on what my clients can maintain for a year, five years, or a decade—not just what they can stick to for 21 days.
I’m heavily influenced by the systems-based approach in Atomic Habits by James Clear, and I incorporate those ideas into all of my sessions—even group workouts.
4. What are some common health challenges you see in your clients, and how do you typically approach them from a nutrition and movement standpoint?
The nature of what I do naturally attracts people who are looking for big changes like yesterday. I help them move away from black-and-white thinking and toward daily balance: giving their best each day, knowing that “best” looks different from day to day.
Flexibility—in your mindset and in your plan—sets the stage for meaningful, lasting results, whether your goal is performance, body composition, or overall wellness. I often remind my clients of this gem from Atomic Habits: “What can I maintain on my worst days?”—not just what I can achieve on my best.
5. You’ve said that small, consistent shifts can lead to big changes. Can you share an example of a “small shift” that has had a lasting impact on your own life?
My mantra this year has been: Keep it simple, smart, and automated.
I now ask myself three questions before committing to something:
-
Is this a smart move for me?
-
Does it enhance my business, wellness, or daily life?
-
Can it be simplified or automated?
Even small tweaks—like using a coffee pot that autobrews—have been life-changing!
6. We love having you as a part of the Haskill Creek community! What are your go-to products from the shop, and how do you incorporate them into your daily routine?
I’ve been on a Cymbiotika Magnesium Threonate kick for two years—I stir the vanilla bean packet into my morning coffee with cream, and it helps lift the brain fog and set me up for a productive day. I also love their magnesium spray—it smells like lavender and is a huge part of my recovery routine.
I’m also obsessed with the essential oil blends—I diffuse them in my studio all the time to set the tone. And I might be giving away my secret here, but the matcha and matcha whisk combo makes such a luxurious yet affordable gift!
I’m always down for a good mocktail or a cup of locally roasted coffee, too.
7. What’s one underrated wellness practice or habit you wish more people embraced?
Morning gratitude practice. My current class closing is:
“Keep building and enjoying a life you love, and I’ll see you next time!”
I encourage people to write down three things they’re grateful for from the past 24 hours—three wins or simple moments worth remembering. It might feel awkward at first, but over time, it helps you carry your joy from yesterday into today.
Mine usually include a workout or walk with my dog, a win from work, and dinner with my fiancé. Yes—I still write them down every day. It’s helped me boost my joy, increase gratitude, and quiet the inner critic.
8. Montana living comes with a unique rhythm—how does living in the Flathead Valley influence your approach to health and wellness?
Montana summers come with a unique rhythm, and it can feel like a marathon—especially in the Flathead Valley! Whether you’re juggling work, kids’ schedules, home maintenance, wellness routines, or just trying to enjoy the sunshine, it can get overwhelming.
When I feel stretched thin, I ask myself: “What would feel like a luxury today?”
That often leads me to something wellness- or rest-related, like sitting in the sun for five minutes on a lunch break, sneaking away for a workout class, or grabbing a matcha latte. It’s a small but powerful shift.
9. What advice would you give to someone just beginning their wellness journey, especially someone who feels overwhelmed by where to start?
Work with a coach or join a community that’s already living the healthy lifestyle you want to create. Then, focus on designing your environment, habits, and systems to make that lifestyle sustainable.
If you need help with your nutrition or training, reach out! We have multiple offerings—and some may be covered by your insurance. We also accept HSA/FSA cards.
10. What’s next for Ember Nutrition—anything exciting coming up that you’d like to share?
Yes! We’re celebrating three years of Ember Nutrition & Training with a Sip, Shop, Celebrate event on June 27–28. We’ll have extra-special workout classes followed by signature sips and an amazing vendor lineup. I’m especially excited about my favorite cotton sundresses from LBLC the Label—perfect timing to grab a cute dress before the 4th of July!
Also new to the studio: I recently completed two Experiential Movement trainings with the one and only Brittany Carden in Sculpt and Barre. I’m so excited to bring her beat-based methods into my own class style and training approach. More new offerings are coming in July—stay tuned!

1. Cymbiotika | Dynamic Magnesium Duo : Magnesium Spray + Magnesium Threonate
Combine these for recovery and neurological benefits. This topical form of magnesium is anti-inflammatory, relaxing, and soothes joints and muscles. A must-have before bed after a tough training day. Magnesium Threonate is the only form of magnesium that readily crosses the blood-brain barrier. A vital part of my morning routine—this mixed into coffee with cream for calm, productive energy and focus all day. The vanilla bean flavor is delicious. I focus on including magnesium-rich foods in my diet as well to feel my best.
2. Happy Organics | Berry Birthday Candles
These belong on every birthday, bridal shower, and baby shower cake this summer. TOO cute.
3. Canopy x Rosie Jane | Essential Oil Blends: Chill / Wake / Calm
Essential oils are always going in my coaching studio, and I vary them depending on the weather. When the sun is out and we’re energized and ready to rip, I love blends that combine citrus and eucalyptus—like Wake. When it’s a gray day, we can also find quiet strength in simply showing up—strong and committed nonetheless. That’s a job for Chill, a blend of mandarin and mint.
4. Aplos | Mocktail
A tasty mocktail with health and mood-boosting benefits. The adaptogens in this provide an elevated feeling without the empty calories or side effects of alcohol. If you’re not ready to go fully alcohol-free, incorporating 1–2 of these alongside drinks can offer benefits and help reduce hangovers.
5. The Tea Spot | Organic Tea
From a woman-owned business out of Colorado, they make a tea for every season that brings joy to everyday rituals. I supply this brand in my coaching studio. In the fall, we offer Pumpkin Chai Spice. I love serving their immunity blend iced, and their Hibiscus Cucumber tea is another favorite. Moroccan Mint—a blend of spearmint and green tea—is also a standout, especially for women with PCOS.
6. Leaf Shave | Dermaplaner
A must-have in my beauty routine for exfoliation and removing peach fuzz. The blade refills keep things both sanitary and eco-friendly!
7. Treeline Coffee | Coffee
My favorite coffee company in Bozeman, where I lived for about six years. It has the roasting and freshness standards of Peet’s Coffee, but it’s crafted in Montana.
8. Rishi | Matcha and Matcha Whisk
This is my go-to birthday gift, sourced from Haskill Creek. Having a real matcha whisk and a fresh tin of matcha is an understated luxury—and also cost-effective (less than $50, I think?).

June 3, 2025
This week at Haskill Creek, we’re diving deep into two of the buzziest wellness ingredients—sea moss and collagen—and gearing up to celebrate something big: one year of being open in downtown Whitefish!
Let’s start with sea moss. This ocean-grown, mineral-rich superfood has surged in popularity recently, showing up everywhere from health blogs to smoothie shops. But is it worth the hype? Our latest blog explores the real benefits of sea moss—think: gut health, energy support, immunity, and glowing skin—and introduces you to one of our favorite trusted brands for getting started. If you’re sea moss-curious (or already a fan), this is your go-to guide for what it does and how to use it.
Next up: Collagen 101. You’ve probably heard the buzz, but we’re breaking it down in plain English: what collagen actually is, why our bodies start producing less of it with age, and what you can do to support it from the inside out. Our in-depth guide covers food-based sources, lifestyle tips to preserve what you’ve got, and the best supplements (yes, we’ve done the vetting for you). Whether your focus is joints, skin, or recovery, you’ll find something helpful in this breakdown. Plus, save this easy reference guide for next time you’re shopping in-store.
If you’re wondering about Haskill Wednesday events, or curious about what the current status of our Voerman property is, we’ve updated our letter to the Whitefish community, which can be found here.
And now for the really fun stuff…
Our downtown store has been open for just over a year… so we’re throwing a party!
Join us on Tuesday, June 25, for an all-day Anniversary Party at the store. We’re planning:
🎉 Raffles & giveaways all day
🛍️ Store specials + double loyalty points
🥂 Sips & snacks from local favorites
🧬 BusyBee IV Nutrient Panels available from 9:00–11:30 AM
➕ Optional MTHFR gene add-on testing for deeper insights
If you’re wondering what a nutrient panel is… It’s a comprehensive blood test that looks at key markers like iron, vitamin D, B12, magnesium, CoQ10, and more—giving you real data about your nutrient status. This can help you understand whether you're truly getting what you need from food and supplements, or if there are hidden deficiencies holding you back. Get more info here, or sign up for one by clicking here.
Whether you’re coming for the giveaways, the double points, the snacks—or all of the above—we’d love to see you there.
Thanks for helping make Haskill Creek what it is. Here’s to the next year! ✨
We announced several weeks ago that we were officially partnering with BusyBee IV, and are excited to announce our first in-store lab draw experience at Haskill Creek. On June 25, we’ll be hosting our Anniversary Party, and as part of this celebration BusyBee is offering special pricing on Nutrient Panel Blood Draws—a powerful tool to help you take charge of your health from the inside out. They’ll be on-site from 9-11:30, and you can reserve your spot by clicking here.
Why Nutrient Testing?
Think of nutrient testing as the foundation of your wellness strategy. Instead of guessing which supplements you might need, this comprehensive lab panel helps identify exactly where your body is thriving—and where it might need support. With the right data, you can stop the guesswork and start giving your body what it actually needs.
Deficiencies in key nutrients like iron, B12, vitamin D, and magnesium can lead to symptoms such as:
-
Low energy
-
Poor recovery
-
Brain fog
-
Mood swings
-
Weakened immunity
By addressing imbalances with targeted supplementation, you’ll feel more vibrant, resilient, and in tune with your body.
What’s Included in the Nutrient Panel?
This isn't your average checkup. BusyBee IV’s Comprehensive Nutrient Panel includes insights into:
-
Ferritin: stored iron levels
-
Vitamin D, B12, Folate & CoQ10
-
Magnesium, Calcium, Iron + TIBC
-
Homocysteine & Hemoglobin A1C (for cardiovascular and blood sugar insights)
-
Complete Blood Count (CBC)
-
Complete Metabolic Panel (CMP)
Each marker gives clues about energy levels, mood, sleep, metabolism, and immune function. Best of all, BusyBee IV will follow up with a personalized recommendation, tailored to your lab results.
Bonus: Know Your Genes with MTHFR Testing
For those who want to go deeper, you can add MTHFR gene testing, which helps determine how well your body processes B vitamins and detoxifies. This insight can be especially useful for people with:
-
Family history of heart disease
-
Hormonal imbalances
-
Fertility challenges
-
Mood concerns
Understanding your MTHFR status helps eliminate “one-size-fits-all” supplementation by showing whether you’d benefit from methylated B vitamins, which are easier to absorb if you have a common gene variant.

Hello and Happy Tuesday!
Memorial Day is on the horizon, a date which most people consider to be the official start to summer–and we’re here for it! We’re packing up our bags and hitting the road with friends and family, and planning to spend time in the sun with good company and cold drinks in our hands. If you’re hitting the road too, we’ve rounded up some of our favorite travel products & hacks for you here. If you’re staying in town, be sure to stop into Haskill Creek this weekend! Our Memorial Day Sale starts Saturday, and runs through Monday. If you spend $100, you get 10% OFF, if you spend $200 you get 20% OFF and if you spend more than $300 you get 30% OFF. (**Some exclusions apply). We also still have spring sale items available–marked down to 70%+ OFF!
Speaking of sun–we’ve got clean suncare covered at the store. From Suntegrity (we’re superfans of their impeccable face sunscreen) to Range Essentials, to UTU, we’ve truly upped our sunscreen game this summer. As you’re looking at clean sunscreen ingredients, you may be thinking… what about titanium dioxide? If you’re curious about the ingredient, we’ve broken it down for you in our latest ingredient sleuthing installment here.
Last week we attended the Montana Festival in Bozeman, where we had the pleasure of hearing Robin Kelson from Abundant Montana speak about our local food systems. One big takeaway for us was that in Montana, only 3% of the food that’s on our plates is grown or raised in Montana. That’s a pretty staggering statistic. So what can we do? Obviously supporting your local farmers at the farmers market is an easy and important way to do that, and supporting local meat producers is important too. We take part in a meat-delivery system from Old Salt Co-op, a meat production co-op that understands the importance of regenerative farming. They deliver to the Flathead Valley every other week. If you’re interested in signing up for a delivery click here.
Another easy way you can bring food closer to home is by planting your own garden! You don’t need a lot of space to make a pretty big impact. In even just one container Colette has grown Kale, Basil, Parsley, and Lettuce–that’s a pretty good way to get ultra-local ingredients right onto your plate (and it’s fun to pick things directly from the garden and put them in your meals!) We sat down with our Haskill Creek Farm Manager, Jason Boyes, and asked him for his tips on gardening, tending to house plants, and growing in general. Check them out here.
Wherever you’re celebrating Memorial Day this weekend, we hope you enjoy some extra rest and relaxation before the true chaos (fun chaos, but chaos nonetheless) of summer kicks in!
Gardening in Northwest Montana can feel like a challenge—but with the right know-how, you can create a lush, productive garden even in our short growing season. We sat down with our Farm Manager, Jason Boyes, at Haskill Creek, who brings a wealth of experience from industrial agriculture in eastern Montana to organic hemp farming and flower cultivation right here in Whitefish. Here are his top insights for making the most of your growing space.
1. Know Your Zone
Whitefish, MT is located in USDA Hardiness Zone 4b. This means we see average annual minimum temperatures of -25 to -20°F. Our growing season is short, so planning is key. Starting seeds indoors and knowing when to transplant is crucial.
Didn’t start your seeds yet? That’s OK! You can buy plant starts at ACE or local nurseries like Fischer’s Garden or Hoopers.
2. Start Indoors, But Cold-Harden First
Starting seeds indoors near a sunny window is a great way to get ahead, but be sure to cold-harden your seedlings before planting them outside. That means gradually exposing them to the cold so they can adjust without shock.
3. Sunlight is Everything
Given our climate, make sure your outdoor growing space is south-facing whenever possible. Sunlight is essential for success in this region, especially early in the season.
4. Don’t Overwater
One of the most common mistakes? Overwatering. Raised beds can dry out faster than in-ground gardens, but it’s still important to soak deeply and less frequently rather than sprinkling daily. Always irrigate the soil directly—not the leaves—to avoid mildew and other issues.
5. Use the Right Soil Supports
Compost is your best friend. Whether you're amending last year’s soil or using bagged soil, mixing in compost boosts microbial life and improves structure. Jason also recommends OMRI-listed mycorrhizae in seed trays and soil to support healthy root development. (Here’s the one he uses)
6. Cultivate Your Own LAB (Lactic Acid Bacteria) for Soil Health
This is a technique that Jason swears by, and by looking at the plants he takes care of–I have to say, I agree! So, what are LABs, and how do you make them yourself?!
Lactic Acid Bacteria (LAB) are beneficial microbes that enhance nutrient availability and promote a robust microbial ecosystem in your soil. Cultivating your own LAB is straightforward and inexpensive… Here's how:
Step 1: Prepare a Rice Wash
-
Rinse a cup of rice with water, collecting the milky water in a jar. This rice wash provides carbohydrates that attract beneficial bacteria.
-
Cover the jar with a breathable material like cheesecloth to prevent contaminants, and place it in a shaded area for 1–2 days.
-
Once you observe a sour smell and three distinct layers forming, extract the middle layer using a syringe or siphon, being careful not to disturb the other layers.
Step 2: Feed the LAB
-
Mix the extracted liquid with milk at a 1:10 ratio (e.g., 10 ml of liquid to 100 ml of milk). Use the least processed milk available, avoiding lactose-free options.
-
Pour the mixture into a container with an airlock to maintain an anaerobic environment. If an airlock isn't available, use a jar with a loosely fitted lid, releasing pressure periodically.
-
Allow the mixture to ferment for about a week. You'll notice curds forming on top and a yellowish liquid (whey) beneath.
Step 3: Harvest and Store
-
Strain out the curds, retaining the liquid whey. The curds can be composted.
-
For short-term use, store the whey in the refrigerator for up to a week.
-
For long-term storage, stabilize the LAB by mixing it with an equal amount of molasses (1:1 ratio). This mixture can be stored in an airtight container for up to six months.
Application:
-
Dilute the LAB solution at a rate about ⅓ cup of LAB to 1 gallon of water.
-
Apply this mixture to your garden soil or houseplants to enhance microbial activity and nutrient uptake.
-
By integrating LAB into your gardening routine, you're adopting regenerative practices that support soil health and sustainability.
7. Choose Easy, Productive Crops
Some vegetables thrive here and can be preserved through pickling or freezing, helping reduce waste. Great options for Northwest Montana include:
Root vegetables: carrots, beets, parsnips
Leafy greens: romaine, Bibb, and butter leaf lettuces
Others: Garlic chives, rhubarb, peas, beans, onions
Be aware that brassicas (like kale) and herbs like basil and cilantro can bolt quickly in heat
8. Be Weather-Wise
We all know the temperature can drop suddenly. Be ready to protect your plants with burlap, sheets, or plastic covers when a cold snap hits. A little preparation goes a long way.
9. Skip the Salt Fertilizers
Avoid chemical salt fertilizers, which can degrade soil health and harm the environment. Stick with compost, LABs, and other organic, regenerative inputs that nourish rather than strip the soil.
10. Regenerative Gardening Starts at Home
At Haskill Creek, we're passionate about regenerative agriculture—not just on the farm, but in backyards, balconies, and raised beds across Montana. Practices like composting, avoiding synthetic inputs, feeding the soil microbiome with LABs and mycorrhizae, and keeping living roots in the soil all contribute to a healthier planet. These small home-scale steps mirror the bigger mission behind our nonprofit, SaveFarmland.org, which is committed to preserving farmland and supporting regenerative farming practices.
By making conscious choices in how we garden—from the seeds we plant to the soil we tend—we can each play a part in restoring ecosystems, building soil health, and creating more resilient food systems.
Gardening in Whitefish requires planning, observation, and a few clever techniques—but it doesn’t have to be complicated. Whether you’re growing herbs in a windowsill or cultivating a backyard full of flowers and food, start with healthy soil, the right sunlight, and a little local wisdom. Happy planting from all of us at Haskill Creek!
This summer Jason is working on cultivating a beautiful crop of Dahlia’s at the farm. If you’re interested in purchasing them mid-summer for your home or an event, please email [email protected].

This week at Haskill, we’re leaning into all things women’s wellness—and giving a big, heartfelt nod to the moms, grandmas, aunties, and caretakers who hold it all together (even when the wheels are falling off).
Inspired by a conversation between Mel Robbins and Dr. Stacy Sims, we’re breaking down some of the most exciting, science-backed wellness trends specifically tailored for women. From learning about Creatine to understanding why fasting affects women differently than men, this blog is a must-read for anyone who wants to feel stronger, more energized, and in sync with their biology.
And because Mother’s Day is right around the corner, we put together a gift guide full of thoughtful, fun finds for every kind of mother figure in your life. Whether she’s into skincare, supplements, relaxing rituals, or a little bit of everything—there’s something in here that says “thank you” in just the right way. (And hey, you might get some ideas for treating yourself in there too).
Mark your calendars for May 21–we’re hosting our 3rd Haskill Creek Book Club gathering, where we’ll be talking about “Dream State” by Eric Puchner. We loved this read, and hope you guys did too! If you’re interested in joining us for the get together, please email [email protected].
We’re also highlighting a brand we absolutely love: The Absorption Company. Their innovative formulas make sure your body actually uses the nutrients you take in—because good supplements are only as effective as they are absorbable. Bonus points for coming in a drinkable formula, because not everyone wants to take a bunch of pills everyday. Learn how they’re changing the game here.
Oh, and because no Mother’s Day is complete without a laugh…

This week at Haskill, we’re celebrating Earth Day by getting grounded—literally and figuratively.
Let’s start with a wellness staple that’s making a comeback: black seed oil. Used for centuries to support immunity, digestion, and radiant skin, it’s earned the nickname “the cure for everything but death”—and while that might be a little dramatic, the research is compelling. Dive into the history, benefits, and how to use it in this new blog post.
We’re excited that our doors are back open, and we’ve started our spring product refresh! New on our shelves this week: True Sea Moss, available in both gel and gummy form. Rich in minerals and easy to integrate into your daily routine, sea moss has become a go-to for gut health, energy, and overall vitality. Also new and exciting: True Botanicals skincare! We’re LIVING in their under-eye patches, and bronzing drops. We’ve got more fun additions on the way, so be sure to stop in regularly (and ask us what’s new!)
In honor of Earth Day, it felt right to highlight the deeper mission behind what we do. Sustainability isn’t just a buzzword here—it’s something we consider with every product we bring in, every brand we partner with, and every decision we make. Many of our favorites go beyond clean ingredients and take real action toward regenerative agriculture, plastic reduction, and transparency in sourcing. Read about what 10 of our favorite brands are doing here.
On the topic of Earth-friendly habits, we also shared a lighthearted but meaningful read about food waste—starring none other than our leftover food. “Chicken Little & The Compost Club” dives into what happens when we don’t compost, how quickly waste adds up, and how easy it actually is to start shifting small habits at home. It’s a fun read with a gentle nudge toward sustainability.
You might also know that we’re the founding force behind Save Farmland, our non-profit committed to protecting Montana’s open space and helping the next generation of farmers and ranchers succeed. If you haven’t checked out what we’re up to lately, it’s worth a look.
Thanks, as always, for being part of this growing community that believes wellness and environmental care can (and should) go hand-in-hand. We hope to see you in the store soon!
