Zinc
If there was a super mineral, then zinc would be a contender. Zinc is an essential micronutrient that is crucial to more than 200 enzymatic reactions and plays a key role in growth, immune function, testosterone metabolism, and numerous other functions in your body.*
Thorne offers two highly absorbable forms of 15 mg elemental zinc, ideal for immune, metabolic, reproductive, and tissue health:
- Zinc Picolinate: Zinc bound to picolinic acid—highly bioavailable and widely studied.
- Zinc Bisglycinate: A chelate with two glycine molecules; gentle on the stomach and well tolerated.
Both formats offer the same elemental dosage and are designed to support daily zinc needs.
Clinical studies demonstrate zinc supplementation can increase general wellness, and that it has a beneficial impact on connective tissue, as well as reproductive and eye health.*
Zinc Picolinate
- Enhances immune function, including T-cell activity
- Strengthens antioxidant defenses
- Supports skin, eye, connective tissues, and reproductive health, including healthy testosterone production
Zinc Bisglycinate
- Offers immune support and antioxidant protection
- Promotes skin and eye health, aiding wound healing and tissue integrity
- Supports reproductive health and testosterone metabolism
Both Variants: Take 1 capsule daily, with food, or as directed by a healthcare provider ().
- Avoid if you have hypersensitivity to any ingredient
- Discuss use with a physician if pregnant, nursing, taking medications, or undergoing long-term supplementation
- Exceeding the 40 mg/day upper intake limit may cause copper absorption issues
Pregnancy & Child Safety
- Zinc Picolinate 15 mg – Generally considered safe during pregnancy at this dosage. Zinc is an essential mineral needed for fetal growth, immune function, and cellular repair. Thorne’s 15 mg dose is well within safe limits for prenatal use.
- Zinc Bisglycinate 15 mg – Generally considered safe during pregnancy, especially since bisglycinate is a gentle, well-tolerated chelated form of zinc. Same 15 mg dose applies.
⚠️ Note: The recommended dietary allowance (RDA) for zinc during pregnancy is 11 mg/day, and the upper limit is 40 mg/day. These supplements provide 15 mg, which is appropriate for women with increased zinc needs, especially if dietary intake is low—but always best under guidance from a healthcare provider.
