Here are some of the go-to places the Haskill Staff are going to get moving this Winter!
Big Mountain (Whitefish Mountain Resort): Pretty self-explanatory!
Delia Pilates: Love Delia and all the instructors! With both group and private sessions you can workout at your level through equipment-based Pilates classes, including reformer, mat, and chair combinations.
Camp Scout and Gather Cross Country Skiing: New this year! Visit The Mercantile (great shopping!) for details on enjoying the trails and sign a quick waiver. Whether you're looking for a relaxing glide or a nice workout, there’s something for everyone.
Glacier Nordic Club: This nonprofit organization is dedicated to promoting cross-country skiing and maintaining groomed Nordic trails in the Whitefish area.
Whitefish Lake Golf Course: Offers 12 kilometers of groomed trails for skate and classic skiing. Trails are well-maintained and great for skiers of all levels, from beginners to advanced.
Big Mountain Nordic Trails: Located near Whitefish Mountain Resort, these trails are groomed for Nordic skiing and snowshoeing. They wind through quiet forests and provide an immersive winter experience.
Meadow Lake Nordic Trail: Located at Meadow Lake Golf Course in Columbia Falls. Offers a peaceful experience with fewer crowds.
Love Yoga & Barre A staff favorite! This studio offers a variety of heated and non-heated classes, including hot yoga, barre, sculpt, yin, and kids yoga. They also host wellness events and teacher training.
Shanti Yoga: Jodi is the best! Her studio provides public, private, and semi-private classes suitable for all levels. Their classes blend various styles of Hatha Yoga, emphasizing alignment, energetic movement, and mindfulness.
Stumptown Ice Den: Open skate is the perfect time to show off your skills or hold on to the side rail 😂. The Stumptown Ice Den is a year-round ice facility offering public skating sessions, figure skating, hockey leagues, and curling. It's a hub for ice-related activities in the community.
The Whitefish River Trail: In town, a quick scenic walk to get those legs moving! It’s a paved, multi-use path that follows the Whitefish River for about a mile through town, passing through several small parks. During winter, the trail can become icy and snow-covered, making it suitable for activities like walking, snowshoeing, or cross-country skiing. It's advisable to wear appropriate footwear, such as cleats or crampons, to navigate potentially slippery sections.
The Whitefish Trails: Not all are probably great for winter, but a few still are!
Lionhead Mountain Trail: This trailhead offers short, scenic loops perfect for snowshoeing or winter hiking. The dense forest provides some protection from wind, and the trails are well-marked.
Beaver Lake Area: This area has gentle, rolling terrain ideal for snowshoeing. The trails offer beautiful views of frozen lakes and a peaceful winter landscape.

December 31, 2024
Hello and Happy Tuesday!
What a fun and snow-filled holiday season it’s been! We’ve been enjoying spending time outdoors, early movie and game nights with our families, and soaking in the magic of winter–hello Hygge! (And, in Carrie’s case… enjoying the sun in Florida!) It’s been so wonderful to see so many new (and familiar!) faces in the store, and we couldn’t be more grateful for what the past year has brought us, and simultaneously more excited for what we hope 2025 holds.
We took some time to think about our best moments of 2024, like opening our downtown store, and welcoming our smallest team member, and shared them here. We also shared our “wrapped” on Instagram, if you haven’t seen it yet check it out here!
New in store–we’re super excited to be carrying the Roz haircare line. We’ve been using it daily, and bonus… their serum contains hyaluronic acid–our perennial favorite ingredient. Other favorite product lines we brought in, in 2024? Natureofthings, Pendulum, & Ere Perez… to name just a few!
Since it’s New Year’s Eve… we had to do it. We’re going to talk resolutions, but with a Haskill twist.
If you were following along with us last year, you’ll know that we took a “one small change” approach to the new year in 2024. No one is perfect, least of all us, and it can seem daunting (and frankly, totally unrealistic) to do a complete makeover of your life in the new year. But alas, for whatever reason, that’s what it often feels like we need to do. NOPE. Last year we decided that we were going to pick one thing and try to stick to it for the month of January, in hopes that it would become a habit, or at least change our behaviors slightly. You can read about that, and the Atomic Habits book & theory here.
This year, we looked at the top resolutions that people typically make, and we’re putting our take on them in our 2025 New Years Resolutions series. First up, we’re looking at three resolutions that we’re categorizing under “The Mingle Project”. If you’re unfamiliar with the Mingle Project, it’s an initiative by Michael Smerconish, a Sirius XM radio and CNN television host, aimed at addressing societal polarization by encouraging people to engage with others that hold different perspectives. Resolutions that we put in this bucket include traveling more, spending more time with family and friends (maybe even ones you disagree with!). You can check them out here.
If your resolutions include resetting your health in the New Year, you might be interested in trying out the Kroma 5-Day reset. Colette did this reset this fall, and felt SO great afterward. She’s planning to do it again in January. If you want to join her, we’re offering a great deal on the resets this month! If you buy one kit, you can get a second kit for 50% off. These are available for pre-order only, which you can do by emailing here.
Cheers to a wonderful year ahead!

Hello and Happy Tuesday!
It’s hard to believe we’re already two weeks into 2025–I don’t know about you, but it feels like we’re still playing catch-up from the holidays, while simultaneously trying to ward off and battle illnesses, and put plans into motion for the exciting year ahead.
If you’re in the same boat–here are a few things that are currently helping us…
Illnesses: Between the stomach bug, the cough, the fevers… you name it, and everyone’s got it. We’re washing our hands religiously (love Milk + Honey handwash for this), and disinfecting surfaces with our favorite Koala Eco sprays, and we’ve also turned to some trusty remedies to help us power through when the germs prevail.
**Always consult your healthcare provider before starting any new wellness routine to ensure it’s right for you.**
1. Zizia Botanicals Vapor Balm: Put this on your chest or the bottom of your feet to help with stuffy noses and congestion.
2. Liposomal Vitamin C: Use this preventatively to ward off sicknesses, or for knocking germs out while currently sick–for us, Vitamin C is an everyday staple.
3. Cough + Cold Elixir: Apple Cider Vinegar, Honey, Oregano and more! Use this every few hours to say goodbye to your cold, naturally!
4. Manuka Honey Lozenges: Boost immunity and coat sore throats with these all natural honey-filled lozenges.
5. Activated Charcoal: Soothe uneasy stomachs with activated charcoal.
6. Immunity Ice Cubes: Delicious and Nutritious, these immunity ice cubes may help you ward off future sickness!
Catching up and planning ahead: I (Colette) am a calendar person, and a planner person–I use a few different planner methods and calendars, depending on what it is that I’m trying to accomplish. Here’s what works for me, and might work for you too!
-
Google calendar: I use my google calendar religiously to ensure that my day is time-blocked for work, personal commitments, and kids calendars. For certain work meetings I used the integrated note taking features for action-items or to-dos. To some, my calendar may look scary, but for me, it’s comforting knowing that I’ve carved out time in my day for things that need to get done.
-
Written calendar (different from written planner, below): I use a written monthly calendar to track personal payments and expenses, so that I can see what’s coming with a quick glance. It’s not something I need to be constantly looking at, so I like to keep it separate from my digital calendar. I love mine from Wilde House Paper #foundathaskillcreek 😉
-
Written planner: I use my written planner to keep track of big things on my calendar like long meetings that might require prep and events that are one-offs or outside of my normal routine (dinner with friends, kids birthday parties, etc.). I also use my written planner to keep track of longer term goals and track daily to-dos and check them off my lists. I like to separate the to-dos by category, for example I might separate out, and have to-do’s for each of these: Haskill Creek retail buying, Haskill Creek marketing, Cafe planning, Personal to-do, Trip Planning, Holiday Prep, Gift Lists. These buckets change weekly depending on the season and the priorities for the week.
Depending on what you’re trying to accomplish with your planners (are you trying to prioritize gratitude, meal plan for the week, get your finances in order, or simply get sh*t done) there are a ton of different ways to track & plan. We’ve got travel planners, finance planners, daily planners and more in-store to help you accomplish whatever your goals may be!
Speaking of goals–in this week’s blog on resolutions (part 2 of 3), we’re talking about consumption habits. If you’re rethinking your relationship with alcohol, or are curious about the NA beverage movement, click here to read more.
If one of your goals in the new year is to eat healthier (I mean… whose isn’t?) you might find some of these strategies interesting: Delay, don’t deny; Cooking at home; boosting your metabolism; and thinking about adding nutrition IN rather than taking food AWAY. Read more here.
We’re also taking a look at our spending habits (see: finance calendar above) and making small changes that can have a big impact.
Another thing on our lists for 2025 is further demystifying ingredients. A big part of what we do at Haskill Creek is ingredient research, and making sure that the products we have in-store are of the highest quality, with no hidden garbage. But, just because we know an ingredient is “bad” doesn’t always mean that all of us understand exactly why or even… what it really is. So, we’re taking a dive back into all of our “no list” ingredients to try to break it down in an easy to understand way–if you’re curious about what these ingredients actually are, you might be interested too! First up, we’re tackling Pthalates. Read more here.

Hello and Happy Tuesday!
We hope you’re enjoying the fresh snow and holiday festivities here in Whitefish! We had a great time watching the Christmas tree lighting and visiting with Santa at Huck’s Place during the Christmas Stroll. It really does feel like we’re in a Lindsay Lohan Christmas special (in the best way possible) here during the holidays… IYKYK.
We spent our first days on the mountain last weekend, and are looking forward to more turns with our kids, hot chocolates, and nachos at Hellroaring… all Christmas break long. For our families, skiing is a given, but there are some other wintry activities we’re looking forward to partaking in this winter as well. Dog sledding is definitely on the bucket list. Stay tuned for videos (laughing emoji) if we can make this happen this winter. We also love spending time at Dog Creek Lodge–check them out for nordic skiing, or hit up the Whitefish Lake Golf Course for trails closer to home.
We also want to check out these igloos at the Clydesdale Outpost. We’re thinking that heading there with a group of girlfriends or a couple of families would be so fun–s’mores & sledding–sounds like a dream!
This week we’re thinking about easy holiday entertaining hacks… enter Diaspora Spice Co.’s gourmet popcorn. We love Diaspora not only because of their high-quality spices and unique blends (looking at you taco masala), but also because of their commitment to transparency, quality, and equitable sourcing. Learn more about Diaspora here.
Speaking of entertaining… If you're looking for ways to offset any holiday indulgence, check out our metabolism boosting tips here. Local pilates studio owner Delia Buckmaster also shared her tips for using pilates to enhance your winter sports performance (and offset those champagne calories) here. If your legs were burning last weekend like Colette’s were… these moves should help with your strength and flexibility both on and off the slopes.
The countdown to Christmas is on! Believe it or not… Christmas Eve is just one week away! If you’re still looking for a few gifts, be sure to check out our gift guide here. From now until December 25 we’re also holding an awesome raffle! For every $150 you spend in the store, you’ll get a raffle ticket put into our Christmas Drawing. You could win a Higher Dose Red Light Mask, custom In2Green Whitefish blanket, and more. We’re also offering complementary gift wrapping all season long… one less thing to check off your list!
Our holiday hours are as following:
Christmas Eve: 9 AM – 4 PM
Christmas Day: Closed
NYE: 9 AM – 8 PM
NY Day: 12 PM – 8 PM
We hope to see you in the store soon–Happy Holidays!!

Hello and Happy Tuesday!
We hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday whether relaxing at home with family and/or friends, traveling, or enjoying the fresh snow in Whitefish! We had such a great time seeing so many of you at our holiday shopping event, thank you so much to everyone who came out to see us on the 22nd, we loved seeing all of your faces!
It feels like even though we’ve done our best to prepare for this holiday season, this year the season feels more compressed than ever. So, if you’re also feeling the time-crunch, let us help you take one less thing off of your plate this year. We’ve got holiday gift guides put together for everyone on your list.
Whether you’re looking for the home-chef in your life, your favorite creative kid, or the beauty lover, we’ve got you covered! Feel free to browse online, or stop into the store to pick up a physical copy! We’re also offering complementary gift wrapping in-store all season long.
We’re heading into the season of celebration, but it also happens to be the darkest and driest season in Montana. While we’re out spreading holiday cheer, we’re also thinking about taking care of ourselves both mentally and physically as the seasons have officially changed.
There are certainly benefits to dry air (less mold & mildew, and fewer mosquitoes to name a few…) but it can be a huge bummer for your hair & skin. We’re talking about strategies to combat the dry air, like using a quality humidifier, and moisturizing from the inside out with mushrooms, and hyaluronic acid over on the blog.
We’re also re-surfacing our tips & tricks for combatting SAD (seasonal affective disorder) as it continues to get darker and darker. One of our favorite mood-boosters is turning on our happy lights first thing in the morning, while it’s still dark out, to get our circadian rhythm back on the right track. Read more about that here.
As the seasons change, many people experience the effects of Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), a type of depression often triggered by reduced sunlight in fall and winter. While it might feel like the “winter blues,” SAD can impact your mood, energy levels, and overall quality of life. At Haskill Creek, we believe in a holistic approach to wellness, offering tools and tips to support your mental and physical health during this challenging time.
What is SAD?
SAD is more than just a seasonal funk; it’s a form of depression with symptoms such as:
-
Persistent sadness or feeling “down” most of the day.
-
Low energy and sluggishness.
-
Difficulty concentrating.
-
Sleeping too much or experiencing carbohydrate cravings.
-
Losing interest in previously enjoyable activities.
Research suggests that disruptions in our circadian rhythms, caused by shorter daylight hours, play a significant role in SAD. These changes impact serotonin and melatonin levels, crucial for regulating mood and sleep.
Daily Habits to Combat SAD
Consistency and care are key to managing SAD. Incorporate these habits into your daily routine to stabilize mood and motivation:
-
Natural Sunlight and Light Therapy
Aim for 30 minutes of sunlight exposure daily. If natural light isn’t accessible, consider full-spectrum light therapy with products like Verilux Happy Lights. Light therapy not only mimics sunlight but has been shown to positively affect mood and cognitive functions
Verywell Health
Psychiatric Times. -
Stick to a Sleep Schedule
SAD-related hypersomnolence often involves fragmented or low-quality sleep rather than excessive sleep time. Maintaining a consistent wake-sleep cycle can help improve sleep quality
Psychiatric Times
Merck Manuals. -
Exercise Regularly
Physical activity, especially outdoors, can alleviate depressive symptoms. Even a short walk on sunny days can significantly boost mood
Verywell Health. -
Stay Socially Connected
Social isolation during winter can exacerbate symptoms of SAD. Engaging with friends, family, or community activities can improve resilience and mood
Verywell Health
Merck Manuals. -
A Balanced Diet
Include nutrient-rich foods like fatty fish, eggs, and mushrooms for natural Vitamin D. Vitamin D deficiencies have been linked to higher depression rates
Psychiatric Times
Merck Manuals. -
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
CBT helps individuals reframe negative thoughts and develop coping mechanisms. Studies show it may offer long-lasting benefits for those with SAD
Merck Manuals. -
Aromatherapy
Essential oils like lavender or citrus may alleviate depressive symptoms. -
Engage in Enjoyable Activities
Hobbies such as crafting, music, or gardening can bring moments of joy.
