From Fabric to Fellowship: Goldie Home’s Approach to the Table

For Sara Roberts of Goldie Home, setting the table is more than décor—it’s an act of connection.
There are moments in life when stillness births transformation. For Sara Roberts, that stillness arrived in March 2020—when the city that had defined her professional rhythm, New York, suddenly stopped moving. After years of building a career in the worlds of advertising, fashion, and publishing—most recently at ELLE magazine—Sara found herself at a crossroads she hadn’t fully anticipated but perhaps had long been craving. The world was on pause, and in that rare quiet, she discovered her Part Two.
Origins of Goldie Home
When the pandemic confined her family to their Manhattan apartment, two things came into focus: her love for art and her love for gathering at the table. “At its foundation,” she says, “the brand is—and always will be—about bringing art to the table.”What began as hand-dyed napkins sold to raise money for No Kid Hungry soon evolved into a new creative path. “Covid gave me the breathing space to figure out what reinvention could look like. Once I saw the spark, I ran with it.”
Years spent navigating the intersection of creativity and commerce—from agencies to publishing—gave Sara a foundation of grit, vision, and intuition. “I brought key tenets from my first chapter into the second: the fusion of creativity and business, attention to detail, the influence of fashion, and an unwavering work ethic.”
“A WELCOMING TABLE DOESN’T HAVE TO BE PERFECT—IT JUST HAS TO FEEL LOVED.”
– SARA ROBERTS
From Canvas to Table
Every Goldie Home design starts as a painting—sometimes watercolor, sometimes oil, sometimes an abstract piece created through ice dyeing. Each artwork is digitally printed on fine cotton and linen in Portugal, then cut so that every napkin or tablecloth carries a unique piece of a larger composition. “I love that when people gather, they’re literally connected through the art,” Sara says.
The Meaning of the Table
To Sara, a welcoming table doesn’t have to be perfect—it just has to feel loved. Lighting a candle, using real napkins, or adding a few flowers turns a meal into something meaningful. That simple act of intention is at the heart of Goldie Home’s ethos: effortless beauty that inspires people to slow down and connect.
Goldie Home is named after Sara’s grandmother, whose joyful spirit lives on through the brand—and through her daughter and niece, who both share the middle name Goldie. “It’s about carrying on that feeling of joy,” Sara says. “That’s the heart of what I do.”
Identity & Legacy
Three years in, Goldie Home has become more than a design brand—it’s Sara’s personal evolution. “Part Two is 100% mine,”she says. “Every decision and relationship stems from me. That’s what makes it so scary and so exciting.” She hopes one day her children will see Goldie Home as part of their legacy: a story of creativity, courage, and connection.
